I understand your concern and will do my best to answer your question.
The good news: from what you are describing it is probably nothing to worry about. Intramuscular injections can hurt at the time of the injection and for a few weeks after - the muscle 'thinks' it has been injured and spasms and hurts. Serious complications from an injection (bleeding, infection) are very rare but if you notice a
fever or swelling, have it checked out. Also, the baby is getting bigger and lots of moms notice
nerve and
muscle pain from the baby pulling and stretching your muscles and ligaments out of alignment.
Check with your doctor first but the following things are usually safe and can help:
- heating pads or a hot water bottle
- Ben Gay, Icy Heat or resinol
- sneakers instead of flats or flip flops
- be careful lifting, bending or changing position quickly
I often advise
pregnancy yoga, a visit with a physical therapist or chiropractor but there is probably not much they could do at 39 weeks and what you are experiencing usually gets much better as soon as the baby is born.
Best of luck with the pregnancy and delivery
