Is It Safe To Give Ibuprofen For Neck Stiffness And Fever In Children?

My 5 year old boy woke up this am with a stiff neck and said his head hurt but he also said he hit his head on his toddler bed this am. We put warm heat on it. This afternoon he started with a fever. Now it is 102.9 I gave him Ibuprofen at 11 this am. Thoughts?

Hello,

The symptoms of your 5 years old boy seem to be related to a viral infection. Ibuprofen is very helpful in relieving the fever and muscle pain. I also recommend using warm compresses at the neck area, rest and drink liquids.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
