Is It Safe To Give Meftal Syrup To My Infant With Fever Not Fully Relieved By Calpol?

My daughter 8Kg/9 months has fever.., no other symptoms.... Giving calpol 120mg 5ml 8hrly... But not subsiding completely so Dr prescribed meftal syrup....... Is this ok ??... What s your probable diagnosis?? Viral fever? does viral fever present as simple fever without any other symptoms??
