Is It Safe To Go For Angiogram Or Angioplasty In Dialysis Patient?

My mother - age 76 yrs - dialysis patient from past 4 years. She had recently the below problem- Duringn haemodialysis diagonoed as atrial fibrillation . Patient reverted to sinus rhythm on its own. Both 0 and 06 hrs Trop1 elevated. So diagnosited as Non ST Elevation Mycardial Infarction. Question from my side is - Considering her age of 76 yrs ; undergoing dialysis from past 4 yrs ; I don't know should we undergo angio gram and subsequently angioplasty if required. Need your suggestion.. I don't know if we have to subject her to all this pain. Also, will this kind of heart problem gets repeated. If we don't undergo angiogram itself, what is the problem/risk. Need advice

Hi,

Patients with chronic kidney disease has increased cardiovascular risk.
If case of your mother if your doctor advised angiography, you should not worry.
As you know contrast agents worsen kidney disease, but if patient is on dialysis, she will receive another dialysis after the procedure and everything will be ok.
Patients with chronic kidney disease has increased cardiovascular risk. So your mother needs serious treatment for preventing further cardiovascular events.

Hope I could help you
