Is It Safe To Have Mobizox For Migraine Attacks?

HI. I suffer from frequent migraine attacks. IN this state nothing seems to work but lately I have found (a friend told me) that Mobizox works very well. I have used this in a migraine and found that it immediate;y subsides it. Is it okay for me to use this on a long term SOS basis? What are the side effects if any? Or what would be a safer drug to use in my condition if not this?

Mobizox is a combination of 3 different drugs, acetaminophen, chlorzoxazone and diclofenac. Of course every drug has potential side effects and when used together chances of common side effects add to each other. In Mobizox's case it has been spoke of its possible effects on liver on which both acetaminophen and chlorzoxazone can act. So if you have a liver disease I wouldn't recommend it. If you have no liver problems I don't think an occasional use once a week to abort a migraine attack would affect you much.

As for other options, in case you haven't tried them already the most effective class to abort a migraine attack is the triptans class like zolmitriptan, sumatriptan etc.

If your attacks are freqeuent as you say, of course the best treatment is prevention. There are many prophylactic drugs out there whose regular use reduces the frequency and intensity of migraine attacks, to name a few amitriptyline, propranolol, valproic acid, flunnarizine etc. They are all prescription drugs so you should discuss their use with a doctor preferably with a neurologist.

I hope to have been of help.
