Me and my bf had unprotected sex on 4th and 5th day of my period. The bleeding of periods had already stopped then. During the intercourse he never ejaculated inside me. But to be sure I took an ipill after 48hours of our last intercourse. It the 7th day after taking pill and I haven t had the bleeding yet. M I safe? Or I would get preg if I dnt bleed even after taking ipill??

Hello,

I would like to share some information with you after going through your query. Ovulation occurs two weeks prior to the onset of the next period and if unprotected intercourse occurs during this period, pregnancy can happen.

If you have 28-30 day cycles, you were in the safe period when the intercourse occurred and did not need any protection. It is not necessary that bleeding should occur always after taking the emergency pill; more so in your case, as you recently had your natural period and hence the endometrium is thin.

The pill can delay your next natural period due to its high hormone content. Hence, if you become overdue for ten days, please get further help. Your chances of pregnancy are almost nil.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shanti Vennam,
