Is It Safe To Have Tonsils Removed Soon After A Root Canal?

I am scheduled to have my tonsils removed next week. The temp filling in my tooth which has had a root canal has just come out. No pain as the roots have been cleaned out. My dentist is on holiday. Is it safe to go ahead with the surgery and fix my tooth after?

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain in case if you have an incomplete root canal treatment done and even the temporary filling is out the best way to proceed for your tonsillectomy is to get root canal completed as in case of incomplete root canal done the tooth may get reinfected leading to pain and in case a surgical procedure is done to remove tonsils it can cause you discomfort as immediately after tonsillectomy you cannot get your root canal completed till the healing of surgical site takes place.

Also when the tonsils which are potent barrier that prevent infection from proceeding from mouth downwards are removed and infections taking place in mouth can infect the throat and proceed further..

So better avoid any complication and get the root canal treatment completed then get tonsillectomy done..

Hope this information helps..
