Hi, I'm on the yasminelle pill, I was on my gap week (starting from wednesday) then got my period on saturday like normal, however I had diarrhea throughout the day on saturday, I am now back on my pill today(wednesday) and had sex without a condom, am I still protected?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
If you have 21 pills pack, your gap period for one week started on Wednesday. Actually, you are to start fresh pack on Tuesday, but could not because of the diarrhea and you started fresh pack on Wednesday day, one day late. As your ovulation is not likely to occur in the 1st week of cycle. Your recent sex is still protected. Now that you have started with the fresh pack, it will start preventing ovulation &there would be no chance of protection. Continue with fresh pack as routine.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
