Is It Safe To Smoke Cigarettes Post Tonsillectomy?

It has been seven days since my tonsillectomy (including my surgery date) I have not smoked a cigarette since the morning of my surgery . I am down to taking my pain meds in the morning and at night . When could I smoke a cigarette ? I smoke a pack a day and have for 6 years . Please help !

Hello dear user, thanks for consulting Healthcaremagic and sharing your concerns, I think you should not start to smoking at this moment because your mucosa is in healing process due the tonsillectomy, the cigarette smoke contains over 7,000 chemicals substances and at least 69 of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, just be aware that you can get a local irritation that could lead to serious complications, Take care
