Vesicare contains Solifenacin succinate is an antispasmodic agent that controls the smooth muscle contraction. In Overactive bladder, the drug is prescribed to overcome the urgency by relaxing the bladder smooth muscles. It decreases the frequency of micturition. It also reduces occurrence of dribbling of urine.
Possible side effects are dry mouth, constipation, drowsiness, blurring of vision, etc. Plenty of water, dietary fibre intake are advised to overcome dry mouth and constipation. Laxatives are prescribed in case of severe constipation. Urinary tract infection may be noted in some individuals with poor hygiene. The usual therapeutic dose is 5mg or 10 mg tablets. Individuals with liver disease, antifungal drugs such as ketoconazole should not take this drug.
