Is It Safe To Take 25mg Of Thyronorm To Control TSH Levels During Conception?

Hi..I am 29 years old.. planning for baby... on 18th june TSH was 7.63.... took thyronorm 100 mcg for 10 days.. then took 50mcg for 5 days it came to 3.18..As for planning it is better if it is below 2.. so took 100 for 7 days.. then it comes to 0.78..Now I m taking 25 mcg...I heard when u reduce doses it again grows to some extend.. i m worried if it goes above 3 .. shall i continue to take 25 mcg? From 100 if i start 25 .. to what extend it will grow?

Hi,

Continue with 25 mcg of thyroxine. Do not change the dose often. Continue with the low dose and give time for your body to adjust to the hormone levels. Check your thyroid levels every 20 days until it maintains a normal value. Hypothyroid patients should continue thyroxine in pregnancy. Higher doses such as double dose can be required to be taken. It is harmless to the baby and in fact prevents hypothyroidism in developing fetus.
