Is It Safe To Take Atenolol And Coreg While On Lotrel For Regulating BP?

I have been having some issues regulating my blood pressure. I also have borderline issues with my blood sugar. My doctor have prescribed Lotrel and has increased it several times up to 10/40. Now he wants to add Atenolol and Coreg. My concern is all these medications side effects state they can increase blood sugar and now problems with sex drive and organism. Are there no drugs to treat blood pressure that do not effect my sugar and sex drive?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Usually, the use of ACE-inhibitors like Benazepril which is one of the active ingredients of Lotrel, is associated with sexual problems.

None of the medications is causing high blood sugar levels. We should look at other factors including lifestyle and dietary habits.

You should talk to your caring doctor about these side effects in order to make appropriate changes in your current therapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini
