Hello Doctor, I am taking Becadexamin every day in the evening once. I am 41 years old female. Is it good to take Becadexamin. Or would you suggest me any other tablet as to get some good strength to work, I get very tired after work & feel very exhausted.

Dr. Hanif warmly welcomes you!

Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic HCM. I have carefully worked through your case, and can well realize your health worries. Being your physician, I want to assure, I will take care all of your medical concerns.

Becadexamin is a poly vitamin supplement containing not only vitamins but also mineral and other essential nutrients.

A normal person on a balanced and healthy diet needs no supplemental vitamins unless there is a proven deficiency. In that case a physician after careful evaluation and diagnostic tests may decide which specific vitamin is deficient and may prescribe the same single vitamin supplemental (not a cocktail of vitamins and minerals).

Taking one Becadexamin (after breakfast; not in the evening) although has no adverse effect as it may fulfill the deficiency of any vitamin, mineral or nutrient (if any). But remember if taken in excess (when were not needed) some vitamins may cause harm. B-complex vitamins are water soluble and in excess amounts are flushed out by the kidneys (if kidneys are functioning normally). But Vitamins A, D, K and E are lipid soluble and if taken in excess (when not needed) accumulate in body and may cause serious issues. I have seen many birth defects in babies due to excessive and unnecessary intake of vitamin A by the pregnant mothers.

You have weakness and exhaustion and at this age group, it may be due to some underlying disease too. For that I preferably suggest you to go for the following tests from a laboratory:

CBC with ESR and Differentials.
Fasting lipid profile.
Fasting blood sugar levels.
Serum Electrolytes.
HBA1c.
HBSAg and Anti.HCV by ELISA.
Liver and Kidney function tests.

(Note: Once you have all the blood reports in your hand upload them in a follow up query by going directly to my profile and clicking on 'Ask Me a Question'. Alternatively you may also consult your local physician for opinion)
