General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello,
i can understand your concern.
janumet 50/500mg contains sitagliptin and metformin. both the drugs are used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
since your blood sugars are well maintained(rather slightly on the lower side) your doctor has prescribed you cetapin 1gm. this too contains metformin which is in sustained release form. in this range of blood sugars you need not require two drugs.
there is no issue of suddenly stopping the previous tablet.
i would suggest to shift to cetapin 1gm.
do regular physical activity, eat proper diabetic diet. this would further help in controlling the sugars.
repeat the fasting and post lunch sugars after one month. the dose could be further reduced if the levels are still on the lower side.
wish you a healthy life.
feel free to ask further queries.
thanks for choosing HCM
