Is It Safe To Take Clindamycin And Azithromycin Together?

I am 27 weeks pregnant with no known complications. My dentist prescribed me clindamycin 300mg yesterday. My obgyn prescribed me azithromycin 250 mg today, however I forgot to mentionthat I went to the dentist. My question is can I safely take both medications at the same time? I took 1 of the clindamycin already today. Thanks.

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain in pregnancy most of the medicines are contraindicated in pregnancy while only a few can be taken..

Although both clindamycin and azithromycin is well tolerated during pregnancy and has not been seen to cause any serious side effects to the pregnant ladies or the foetus but taking both together is not advisable and taking any one of the two can help you in curing your dental infection and both are not needed..

In case of pain you can take paracetamol for relief..

I would suggest you to consult your gynaecologist and after her consent only you should proceed with taking the antibiotics although if you take any one among the two also it will help in reducing your infection..

Hope this information helps..
