Is It Safe To Take Hydrocodone Along With Phentermine Instead Of Suboxone?

HI there, I took Suboxone about 5 days ago and because I ran out I took hydrocodone. My last hydro was 29 hours ago but I did take some phentermine to help me deal with the withdrawal effect. I do have withdrawal symptoms of over 11 on the COWS scale but I am thinking some of that has to be from the phentermine. So 2 questions; is 30 hours a good time frame to avoid precipitated withdrawal and will phentermine cause precipitated withdrawal? I have read all that I can and I don t see any contraindications on either drug.. Thanks so much.

Hi,

No. Phentermine is an amphetamine. This mirrors the effects of withdrawal and inhibitors of the amphetamine response are the most commonly used drug for withdrawal (clonidine). It is in the wrong direction to lower agitation, lower elevation of heart rate and blood pressure. Phentermine will make these sort of withdrawal symptoms worse not better.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
