Is It Safe To Take Hydroxyzine For Anxiety After My Nightly Medications?
Hi I m currently taking amitriptyline 25 mg, citerizine 10mg , aspirin 81 mg, and 25mg metropolol in the pm...I take other medications in the am. I m really anxious right now, would it be ok to take hydroxyzine 10 mg ? I took my pm meds about an hour ago
If it was not prescribed for you, avoid self-medicating even with low doses as it can cause side effects and severe complications. Do not combine Hydroxyzine with other medications. Hydroxyzine can enhance drowsiness when taken with Amitriptyline and Cetirizine since all three have sedative properties. Do not take it. You're on Metoprolol, which affects heart rate and blood pressure.
Both Amitriptyline and hydroxyzine affect heart rhythm slightly, they cause prolonged QT interval in sensitive patients. If your anxiety feels overwhelming, reach out to a local doctor, go to ER or call an emergency phone number. You will get help urgently.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
