Is It Safe To Take Lenothyronine Instead Of Levothyroxide?

Hi, I have had a total thyroidectomy three years ago. It seems I am allergic to synthroid and other levothyroxine meds, I have tried many over the years and they all give me severe migraines and vision and balance disturbances. I am presently taking lenothyronine (Cytomel) and a very low doze of synthroid 6.5mcg daily for the past three weeks, but even on that the headaches are starting again. Can the body live without levothyroxide if taking lenothyronine instead (cytomel) ?

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

If you have allergy to levothyroxine then you can take cytomel. In body T4 is active form of thyroid hormone. T3 is converted in to T4. But you need to adjust the dosage accordingly. Maintain your TSH in normal range.

Hope I have answered your question. if you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
