Is It Safe To Take Lorazepam Inspite Of Taking Amlodipine?
My Dr recently changed my bp medication (again) from Atenolol 25 mg to Amlidopine 5mg.My bp is never stable. It is all over the place, from 133/94 to 163/104 to 111/76.They gave me lorazepam 1mg and told me to take half a pill if i get too worried.I m 39 and i am a hairstylist i can t just rest if i feel bad during the day.The meds are making me dizzy and since I ve been on the new medication I ve hada lot of headaches.Should i seek out a specialist/cardiologist since my Dr.s haven t been able to help me in 3 yrs?I m desperate to feel somewhat normal!
Headache is seen in 7.3% of patients using Amlodipine. Points to be observed are: 1) If you have dizziness, you can stop taking Lorazepam. 2) You may also need to stop amlodipine due to headache. Instead you can continue Atenolol and tab. Lisinopril daily. 3) You may consult a cardiologist and report your side effects. 4) Daily exercise is very important and it helps reduce your blood pressure. 5) You can do yoga and meditation to control anxiety.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
