Is It Safe To Take Metformin To Reduce Blood Sugar Level?
My 57 yo brother was given his recent non fasting blood sugar results and his number was 218. His doctor prescribed metformin and given no nutritional counselling. The medicine has some very serious side effects and I would like to know if there is a less drastic method to reduce his sugar level.

I really appreciate your concern, first thing is to know that this is really a diabetes and your brother is candidate for antidiabetic drugs in my opinion better to see the endocrinologist for best advise and opinion, although antidiabetic drugs are well tolerated, hope this information helps.
