Any help or advice is highly appreciated! Thanks, Angerlina D
You are suffering from upper respiratory infections since 2 weeks. You are coughing hard mucus. Your nose gets clogged at night. You are suggested to inhale steam at least once daily. Steam inhalation helps to soothe and open the nasal passages thus giving relief from the symptoms of a cold or sinus infection.
You can take antihistamine at bed time to help give relief from severe coughing. Take adequate water and fluids, it will help to loosen cough. Taking Bromhexine Elixir syrup / tab will help to thin and loosen the mucus in the airway and make it easier to cough out. You are suggested to keep cough lozenges in your mouth to prevent dryness of the mucosa. Using room humidifier may be helpful. Gargle your throat with warm salt water 2-3 times daily.
Take liquid or semi solid food so that you don't hurt the mucosa and make symptoms worse. Since you are suffering from 2 weeks get swab test, sputum test and get clinically examined by an ENT / GP to detect infection in the throat, tonsils or bacterial /viral infection. If infection is detected you will be treated with antibiotics and analgesics. Give voice rest and stay away from addiction, smoking, drugs, alcohol, etc.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
