Is It Safe To Take Phenazopyridine For Interstitial Cystitis?
I have interstitial cystitis. When active, the pain is unbearable. Can phenazopyridine be taken once daily for more than a month? It does work for pain; without it, I would be totally devastated, incapable to do any kind of (mental and other) work while the pain lasts.Thank you!

It may be used for the symptomatic relief. Phenazopyridine has analgesic action in the urinary tract and provides symptomatic relief from burning sensation, dysuria, and urgency due to cystitis. It is devoid of antibacterial activity.
However, lifestyle modifications including stress management and drugs like pentosoan polysufate sodium are the mainstay of treatment of interstitial cystitis.
