Is It Safe To Take Phentermine Along With Methotrexate?

Hi, I am currently on methotrexate for pulmonary sarcoidosis. However, between my hysterectomy and my 2 years on Prednisone, I have packed on quite a bit of weight. I would love to take phentermine for short term to get me back on track. Is it ok to take Methotrexate and Phentermine at the same time without any adverse reactions?

Phentermine is used for weight loss mainly in patients with extreme obesity like BMI >30 kg/M2. There are no known interactions between phentermine and methotrexate. Both can be taken at the same time.
1) Phentermine is used in the doses of 15mg, 30mg
2) To be administered single daily dose before food or 1-2 hours after food
3) It is to be used for few weeks
4) Adverse effects are bad taste in mouth, dry mouth, diarrhea or constipation, mood changes, libido changes, gastric irritation etc.

Hope you are taking phentermine under medical supervision. So a simple answer to your question of taking methotrexate and phentermine at the same time is yes you can take both at same time. But both drugs will cause increased gastric irritation so please take tab. Pantop 40 mg before food daily once.
