Is It Safe To Take Sterodin Injection For Voice Hoarseness?

Hello, I had a viral fever and after it got cured there was some harshness in my voice. I use to sing good however my voice quality and pitch has decreased. Initially I took it casually and thought this might be due to cold and cough. Very recently I went to an ENT specialist and after normal checking of throat, he said I have Laryngitis. He asked me for complte voice rest and prescribed Sterodin injection (5 medicines to be taken in 10 days - that means every alternate day an injection). I believe this injection is to improve my immunity, Please correct me if I m worng. Can Laryngitis be cured with complete voice rest for 10 days? Can you please suggest any other home remedie as well in terms of tea, gargle etc. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello,

Since you have a history of Laryngitis, voice rest is a must to prevent hoarseness of voice. You can gargle 2-3 times a day with warm salt water. Quit smoking, limit the intake of alcohol or caffeine. Cut on addictions if any. Avoid clearing throat every now and then. You will be treated with a course of antibiotics if laryngitis is associated with bacterial infections. Get swab / sputum test done.

You may need analgesics, Combiflam or Naproxen, one SOS when needed for relieving pain & inflammation. If you are reluctant to take Sterodin injection you can discuss it with your treating doctor. Cortico-steroids are given in case of chronic laryngitis.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
