Is It Safe To Take Sysfol, Ovabless And Ovafem Together?

Doctor prescribed me Ovabless, Sysfol , Ovafem and Sft-cde (codliver oil plus Vitamin E tablets) for 6 months. I consulted her after one and half year of trying to conceive with no luck. I started taking these meds one tablet per day (Total 4 tabs per day) this week. As recommended, I am taking All medicines except Sft-cde during the day (after breakfast or lunch) and Sft-cde after dinner. Can u please advise me if there are any adverse affects of taking all these vitamins at once?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

In such situations, we focus on three topics. First one is drug-drug interaction. Second is gastrointestinal disease aggravation. Third is the absorption of the medicines. In your case, except minor interference with calcium ascorbate and wheat germ oil, green tea extract might decrease the absorption of folic acid when taken together and this can lead to folic acid deficiency, which is a major problem for pregnant women.

Vitamin A, D, E and K are fat-soluble vitamins and therefore best absorbed with a fatty meal. As a general advice we recommend at least ten to fifteen minutes between each pill for best absorption even if they are consumed in the same time of the day. This information is my personal view according to the information you provided and does not replace a physical examination.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Alptekin Aktürk, General & Family Physician
