Is It Safe To Take Tylenol For Arthritis In Ankle Leading To Swelling?

My 93 year old grandmother has been have issues with her foot and leg. It has been swollen for a few months now. Xrays have been done, conclusion, arthritis in the ankle. Ultrasound done, no blood clot. This is her second does of meds. The right leg and food is swollen, red at times blue. Tonight I noticed what appears to be air pockets, semi clear. Almost like a sunburn when it blisters. I gave her a does of meds at 8 and extra strength Tylenol at 9, as directed by her doctor to give her. But it looked better this morning without any medication. Any ideas?

Hello,

At that age only safe medicine is Paracetamol (Tylenol) for pain relief and may help reduce swelling. However, if there is improvement noticed without additional medication, then it is better to delay the medication.

Lesser the drug it is better for her. Tylenol will only help mainly in a bit of pain reduction than swelling control.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
