Is It Safe To Take Tylenol For Neuropathic Pain?

I have a lot of pain. Migraines, IT Band, Back, Repetitive strain injury to wrists. After trying Naproxen (it caused too much stomach pain) and eliminating Amytriptyline because I m on Mirtazepine my GP tells me to do Yoga, exercise, get massage, use DBT coping skills. It is all Neuropathic pain and all I have to do is cope with it for 4-6 weeks and the nerve paths will be broken and all the pain will be gone. I ve tried all these things before. Why won t she let me have some Tylenol #3?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is safe but may not be effective. Taking tylenol might help with mild or occasional pain, it s not strong enough to relieve severe pain associated with neuropathy.

I suggest duloxetine or pregablin which are more effective in reducing neuropathic pain as compared to Tylenol.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
