Is It Safe To Take Valium To Relax Before Dental Work?

Hi, I went to the dentist today and they told me because I am extremely afraid of dental work that they would prescribe me a valium before I came in. I don t like taking anything that makes me feel wired and not right. How would taking this drug make me feel?
