Is It Safe To Take Warfarin For Large Persistent Hematoma On Left Thigh?

I have a large persistent hematoma on my left thigh and buttock I take warfarin. I have seen several infectious disease doctors who are familiar with me (morbidly obese, lymphedema and ingenious insufficiency in lower extremities, severe joint problems.) Doctors say surgery to drain would be difficult, due to position of hematoma.I dress with replied boarder, and have a nurse in three times peer week Today, again the hematoma bled profusely. Hard to stop, very dark older blood.Any thoughts?

Hello,

It is important to perform an angio CT scan of the vessels in the thigh, in order to determine if there is a vessel defect which is causing the bleeding. In the meantime, I would recommend continue on low dose heparins in order to prevent further bleeding from Warfarin.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
