Is It Safe To Take Zeptol CR-200 While Suffering From Heart Problem?

Hi! Doc, I am a 45 year old women.During the last few weeks I have been suffering from tongue ulcers, cheek, jaw, and ear pain. I met a doctor and he prescribed me Zeptol cr-200 with neurobion forte. But I have a breathing, infection, and a minor heart problem, irregular menstrual cycle so, Is it OK to take the medicine ? Thanks.

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Zeptol CR is Carbamazepine and the drug is one of commonly used anti-seizure drug and it is also used as mood stabiliser. The drug is relatively safe drug and it is not contraindicated in minor heart issues. You can take the drug without any fear as per your prescription. Continue to visit your doctor regularly. The drug is known to cause rashes as side effects which can progress to severe systemic rashes in some persons. So keep a watch for rashes and if you develop rashes while on this drug visit your doctor as soon as you can. Rest there is no significant risk in taking this drug.
