Is It Safe To Take Antibiotics While Having Liver Problems?

I am suffering from acute diarrhoea, had 3 episodes of semi loose motion,4 episodes of vommit and incessant pain in the stomach. I have been advised to take two antibiotics oflox and metrogyl, but my system is too sensitive and i had liver problem in the past due to which i avoid antibiotics. Please suggest if its okay to take only one of the antibiotics and which one of the two to take in that case?

Hello,

You are suffering from liver problem and presently you are suffering from loose stools, abdominal pain and vomiting. You are suggested to take adequate water and fluids to prevent dehydration and worsening of the symptoms. You can take Metrogyl and if you want your loose stools to stop naturally then you can boil two raw bananas and peel them. Mash it properly add a little salt and eat. You can also boil some sabudana / tapioca pearls in water add a little sugar and eat. It will help to stoop diarrhea.

Since you have liver problem, take boiled water after cooling. Take boiled food for 1-3 months. Do not take spicy oily food. Take adequate rest. To stop vomiting take anti emetics. Take digestives and liver tonic. Get clinically examined by a GP, you will be accordingly treated and will have to stay in rest and strict diet control. Get a repeat liver function test done to assess the improvement. Avoid addictions if any (alcohol, smoking or drugs).

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
