Is It Safe To Take Contraceptive Pill Before Having Intercourse?

Hi, I am taking Yaz contraceptive pill. I have been taking the pill for the last year. Last month when I was taking the placebo pills I got my period as normal, however I had ran out of the prescription so I didn't get to go back on the regular pills after 4 days, it was more like 8 days. I have taken the pill for the 24 days consecutively and started on the placebo pills yesterday (Sunday). I had sex with my boyfriend this morning and he came inside me. Am I protected even though I am on the placebo pills? And secondly I haven't gotten my period yet - if I get in the next few days can I take it that I'm not pregnant or would I have to wait until next month? Thanks,M

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
No, yaz pill will not prevent pregnancy if taken before intercourse. Yaz pill is a contraceptive to prevent pregnancy in females. It contains drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol hormones which act by preventing ovulation(release of egg).
If you have start taking the pills delayed by a week And then taken regularly, this could cause irregularity in your period. However chances of pregnancy is very less after taken all hormone pill regularly & now on placebo pills.
Now you should restart the new pack by taking a 7 day course of placebo pill. A pregnancy test is also advised to ruleout pregnancy.
