Is It Safe To Take Penicillin Content Medicine With Allergic Reaction?

my dr perscribed me medicine today that contains penicillin for a bacteria infection and i had a reaction to penicillin when i was little i broke out in hives.he told me i could take it as long as i didnt exsperence throat swelling when i was little from it . do u think it ok to take it its been 23 years since
