Is It Safe To Take Placebo Pills When Switching Birth Control Pills?

Hi, I have a question about switching birth control pills. Last week, I switched from Minastrin 24fe to Lomedia 24fe. Both of these pills are supposed to be equivalent to the now discontinued, Loestrin 24fe. Lomedia 24fe is the generic version of Loestrin 24fe. I did not like the side effects of Minastrin 24fe and heard good things about Lomedia 24fe. I was not directed to do anything different when switching the birth control pills. I finished the active pills of my Minastrin 24fe AND took the 4 placebo pills. I then started the new pack of Lomedia 24fe on the day that I would usually start another pack of Minastrin 24fe. I was never told to overlap the pills or to not take the placebo pills. I have read on some places that you should not take a gap or take the placebo pills when switching birth controls. However, I did read on the instructions of Lomedia 24fe that when switching from another set of 28 day pills to finish all of the 28 pills and then start Lomedia. I am wondering if there was any way that I was not protected during these days that I have been on Lomedia 24fe. I started the new pill last Sunday, June 1st. These two pills, Minastrin 24fe and Lomedia 24fe are supposed to have the same chemical ingredients as each other. I am hoping that I was protected obviously. Please let me know what you think. Thank you.
