Is It Safe To Travel During Pregnancy While Having High Levels Of Homocysteine?
Hi I m nearly 7 weeks pregnant i have had 2 missed misscarriages but i also have a son. Ive recently been diagnosed with high levels of homocysteine (blood clotting disase) at a level of 18. So i have to inject myself daily with clexane 40mg throughout this pregnancy. Im going to bali in 2 days and want to make sure it will be safe for me to fly? Thanks Lorrae
With due precautions of current medications and low molecular weight heparin in form of Clexane, there is no absolute contraindication of flight journey. Though you must inform the staff and cabin crew members regarding your condition, so that special situation seat arrangement to avoid prolong leg dependent position can be helpful. The doctors team on flight may be having emergency medications as per your instructions to avoid any unnecessary outcome.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
