Is It Safe To Travel While On Iron Tablets For Low Hemoglobin Levels?

Hi, I had a ruptured ovarian cyst 2 weeks ago. Resulted in internal bleeding. Lost about 1.8 liters of blood, but they cut out the cyst, stopped the bleeding, and check up has given me all clear on internal bleeding. Haemoglobin levels were about 8.7 then. Now on iron tablets. Still feel a bit fragile and get tired easily. my question is - can I take a 3 hour international flight? Is it safe to do so?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The anemia may last at least three months. During this period it is safe to fly. I recommend you to avoid physical activities that can make you feel tired. I also recommend to eat healthy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
