Is It Safe To Travel With Glue Ear?

my grandson is due to be flying to Nz from Britain in three weeks time - he has glue ear which is being left at present to see if it will clear. He is only 14 months old; how will this effect him flying all this distance? will experience more pain? is it safe for him to travel this far?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Three weeks are considered enough time for glue ear to recover. Usually it is okay if your infant will take the flight. However, the more serious problem is middle ear infection that would cause problems with gas to expand as the air plane takes off. If no infection, then there is nothing to worry, can fly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
