Is It Safe To Undergo Surgery For Ovarian Cyst?

Hi, i m 32 yrs old with one child. While doing my routine check up last month, ultrasound showed i have a mass in left ovary. Doc advised me for MRI and report is showing left ovarian cyst with blood size 4 cms. She has done pregnancy test and CA 125 and both are normal. She told me to have hormone pills for 3 months. But i prefer to do surgery. Please advice what should be done.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a benign(non-cancerous) cyst and thus no need for emergency surgery.

In most cases it is developed due to hormonal changes, we can wait for a few months and try hormonal pills so that we can avoid surgery.

If medical management fails, surgery may be done. You can go for laparoscopic surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
