Is It Safe To Use Tranexamic Acid For Vaginal Bleeding Caused After Laproscopic Surgery?

Hi... I had a laproscopic surgery for removal of 9 cm right ovarian cyst last month. Inspite of taking lupride depot injections twice (once every month), there s still some vaginal bleeding. Please advise whether it s ok to have the Gynae CVP and Tranexamic acid medicines for this.

Hi,

Yes, these medicines may be effective. Tranexamic acid is commonly prescribed to prevent and treat postoperative bleeding during major surgeries. It reduces the blood loos and thus transfusion requirements. It may be taken along with Gynae CVP for the control of bleeding.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
