Is It Safe To Use Muscle Relaxant With Dermatomyositis?

Is it safe to use muscle relaxer with dermatonmyositis? My husb had DM and hurt his back and he says his muscles hurting in his back. He was given muscle relaxers the last time this happened but not by his Rheumatologist just wondering if that is recommended
