Is It Safer To Take Fentanyl Patches Or Opana For

Is it safer to take Fentanyl patches or Opana for my severe chronic pain, which is caused by spinal stenosis, facet joint disease, building disks, and a lot of really hard wear and tear kind of activity on my body all of my adult life -- I'm 60 now, so about 40 years of wear and tear. If neither one of these meds is best, can you please recommend or suggest something that can ease my very severe pain please?
