Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Yes, the answer is that bleeding after or during intercourse is NOT normal.
It definitely should be investigated.
The commonest reason for women who have had a
hysterectomy is -
atrophic vaginitis.
This is dryness and friability of the local vaginal mucosa, thus making it more prone to injury, abrasion and infection.
This can lead to friction during intercourse, thus causing spotting.
It is easily treated with local
estrogen creams.
Use lubricants during sex.
ALso, another reason could be a growth / lesion or erosion of the leftover cervical stump.
A polyp from the cervix could cause this.
The symptom of post coital bleeding mandates a thorough internal evaluation.
It should not be neglected,
PLease consult a gynecologist and have a per vaginum and per speculum checkup, as well as a
Pap smear.
A pelvic
ultrasound scan should also be done.
All the best
Take care.
