Is It Serious To Notice Watery Discharge Upon Squeezing From The Left Breast A Month After Abortion?

Hello Doctor,

I had an abortion last month and I had my next menstrual cycle. But I find some difference in the way I feel my breasts and I noticed watery discharge on my left breast when squeezed. Is this something serious that I should worry about?

Hi,
It is common for some amount of breast discharge to be seen even after an abortion; only if there is any pain, blood or pus, should you be concerned. The discharge may persist for a week or two and then usually subsides as the hormone levels reach normal state. You may also see your consultant for a physical exam and further management. You can try strapping of the breast and maintain proper hygiene. Hope your query has been classified. Wish you good health.
