Is It To Be Concerned About The Pain In The Chest Due To Weight Lifting?

Hey,

I picked up some weight yesterday and I heard a cracking sound from my ribs. I don't see any bruise on my chest but I feel little bit of pain when I bend down or get up at my center of ribs. No problem with breathing but little bit of heavyness. Do I need to go for check up or it should heel by it self. Please advice. Thanks.

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Possibility of musculoskeletal pain due to heavyweight lifting is more in your case.
Usually this kind of pain is healed by itself with following measures.
1. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise.
2. Avoid bad postures in sleep.
3. Avoid movements causing pain.
4. Apply warm water pad on affected areas.
5. Take painkiller and muscle relaxant drugs.
So you will mostly improve in 7 days with these measures.
If not improving then get done chest x ray to rule out internal pathology.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
