Is It To Be Concerned About The Pain In The Left Breast?

I have had this pain in my left breast for the last few days, I have noticed some changes in the nipple area. I don t feel any lumps in the breast, but the upper area of the breast feels firm in areas. I have had normal mammograms, I am due to have my yearly in August. Should I consult my OB GYN now to have this checked or wait till my next mammogram?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

According to your symptoms there is possibility of mastalgia due to premenstrual syndrome or fibrocystic changes of the breast etc. Instead of waiting, better to consult your gynecologist now itself and get examined as diagnosing any problem early can lead to better treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
