Is It To Be Concerned If Having Stool With Blood During Pregnancy?

Hi i am 18 weeks pregnant, started my iron intake of 100mg per day 2 weeks ago. Being having constipation lately with rather blackish in colour, but the stool came out today were bloodish and also saw a bit of black bloodish clot. Please help to advice if my baby is safe...

Hi, I have gone through your problem.Iron intake is associated with side-effects like constipation and black stools. It means that iron is being well absorbed in the body and your iron tablets are working well.If dark blood is present in your stools, it may have some other cause like piles. Your baby must be safe, that can be confirmed on ultrasound. Blood in stools does not cause any effect on baby. I would suggest you to consult your OBGYN specialist as well as a surgeon, so that appropriate cause for blood in stools can be detected and treated accordingly.
