Is It Unsafe Being On Dilantin For Heart Stroke And Drinking Alcohol Due To Which Facing Depression?

hi, my father is 57 years old and is on dilantin for the past 11 years due to his stroke. he is a binge drinker and seems to have problems with depression, the days after and during his drinking episodes his mental state is very questionable. how unsafe is this mixture?

alcohol reduces the metabolism of dilantin- that means more amount of dilantin accumulate in the body.
-excess amount of dilantin may produce symptoms like - dizziness, double vision, unstable posture. these are the symptoms of excess alcohol intake also
-so the two substances act as synargistics.
-it is advisable to undergo alcohol deaddiction. dilantin needs to be continued
