Is Joints Pain In The Knee And Back Side Effects Of Lovastatin?
Hello, I have been taking Lovastatin for a couple of years and recently I ve started to have a lot of joint pain, backaches (very severe), my knees hurt, etc. Is it possible that the Lovastatin is causing this? I also take Metoprolol, Torsemide, Entresto, Warfarin, and Potassium. I have CHF and AVMs in my lungs due to complications from Tetrology of Fallot. I m 56.
Yes, lovastatin (a medication known as a statin- lowers cholesterol) can cause muscle and joint pain in the body.
Reducing the dose or changing the type of statin might be of benefit in reducing the pain though your cholesterol may go up. Check with your doctor regards this and the need for blood tests if not done in the past 6 months (to exclude muscle damage, plus cholesterol level).
Kind regards
