Is Knee Replacement Surgery Required?

Dear Doctor,

My mother, Aged 51, lives in Sayalkudi , a village which about 100 km from Madurai, Tamilnadu, Tamilnadu. She has been suffering from knee joint pain for the past 8 months. She was advised to undergo total knee replacement surgery by the doctors who have given treatments at Madurai.

My relatives and mother are hesitating to do so as she is a diabetics for the past 20 years. Also she is having high BP and taking bills for Thyroid as well.

I would like to know whether it is necessary to go for an operation even though she is a diabetics?

Expecting your positive reply,

K. Karthikeyan
