Is Large Platelet Count Of 513 With Neutrophils 66 While On Chemo A Cause For Concern?
Please explain large platelet morphology, mine is 513 and it looks like 140 to 400 K/uL is in the normal range. I am doing chemo, and my manual count of neutrophils is 66. Thank you in advance for your help. I have every confidence in my Doctor at Kaiser, but her office is closed already
As per my clinical experience, the systemic chemotherapy do pause changes in the particular cell counts from its effect over bone marrow as well as systemic circulation. It is the period of around 7-10 working days, during which the body gets back to normal previous homeostasis level. If the same persists beyond a period of more than 2 weeks, additional work up or opinion of hematologist may be demand of time.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
